Grandma the Great

We went up to Salt Lake today to visit Great Grandma Z. We got to hear all about how her favorite backyard blue jay broke his leg and couldn't fly right or walk straight and so she hand-shelled his peanuts for him until the other mean birds started stealing them but now he's gotten stronger and better at balancing on one leg so he can shell his own peanuts again. And about the dead quail on her driveway that the mean ol' magpies killed. (Annee, do you have a favorite yet?) The kids run straight for the toy room and the gummy worms; I go first to the cookie jar - never to be disappointed.

And no trip to the Big City would be complete without a Hires New York H and a Rootbeer Freeze. Thanks for the treat Grandma!

It's part of why we visit right, to hear about the birds. The kids look like they had fun. Where were mom and dad? I wish we were closer. I have not declared a favorite bird yet, but I definately don't let the squirrels have the bird food! There I put my foot down.

ah Grandma is just so precious, isn't she? Our family went over there on Sunday for dinner and she was telling us that story of the poor little blue j that broke his leg. Cute Grandma. And you are right, a trip to Hires with Grandma makes the trip complete. Hum, that sounds really good right now :)
